It used to be that a worker in the U.S. built up retirement savings within a pension that was available through their company.

Today, saving for retirement has changed. Company pensions are disappearing and have been replaced by 401k and self directed Individual Retirement Accounts ( IRAs ). The job of saving enough for retirement now falls on the shoulders of  the worker !  Saving for retirement and managing the portfolios related to retirement is now a necessary part of life. By using  "investing science", one may take some control over their own retirement wealth accumulation.
